Shin, HeeJune

Painting
Born and raised in Seoul, Korea I came to the USA to study nutrition with MPH in Public Health Nutrition. Now I am pursuing the study of painting.  Whether in landscapr or still life, the object of my painting is light. As a colorist I am fascinated by light and its effect on colors in a given moment.  Each moment is uniquely a new song.  Thus I enjou plien air painting where the painting becomes a part of the moment.  I use palette knives exclusively.  I attribute this tactile sensitivity to my long years of study in Asian calligraphy.

Triska, Donna

Oil, pastel, mixed media

Making art is a joy for me, no matter what medium I use.  I love to feel it on my fingers, the array of colors, and the random images that pop into my head.  I get so enraptured in the process that I am often surprised that what seemed like 10 minutes was in fact 2 hours.  My parents are Matej and Patricia Triska, of the Triska Troupe, a high wire circus act.  Whe I was young we traveled across America and parts of Europe performing. I was privileged to meet people from many different cultures.  I also believe this is where my deep love of animals and extroverted tendencies stemmed from. My favorite subjects to paint are goldfish and Japanese koi. There is something just so peaceful about them.  And domesticated and big wild cats They have a sleekness and feminine vibe about them.

Wasnick, Alex

Photography, Encaustic Painting

I have had a love and appreciation for nature since I was young.  I was taught to take only photographs and leave only footprints.  This is where my love of photography came from and little did I know inspiration for many of my paintings.  Through the use of wax and natural material I love to paint the farm fields I remember watching on my way up north as a kid.
