Open Call for Exhibition Proposals

The Robbin Gallery is a non profit, community based, cooperative gallery, operated by volunteers from its membership. We host a total of 11 shows each year. Two are member only shows, one is a statewide Juried show titled Extremely Minnesota, and eight are Special Exhibitions.

This Call for Proposals is for the eight Special Exhibitions which may consist of the artwork of one person; of a small group (2-6 persons); of artist associations; and/or of curated exhibitions. This is an Open Call, so artists may submit Proposals at any time. The Proposals are viewed by our Gallery Director and Selection Committee and scheduling is done late in the year for the year after the next one, so one full year ahead of time.

Any group or individual may be granted an exhibition only once in a three year period. The Committee and the Directors reserve the right to decline any exhibition if they feel the work is unsuitable for a family audience or not up to the quality desired, and to remove any artwork from the gallery that may pose a danger to guests, is poorly presented, or is damaged. All decisions of the Directors and Selection Committee are final.

The first duty of the Committee and the Gallery Director is to provide a schedule of exhibitions that provide a variety of media, genre, technique, and style of artwork throughout the gallery year. Their second duty is the encouragement of emerging artists and third is to benefit the larger community. The gallery does not host exhibitions of academic/student work, rather it seeks to exhibit the work of artists who have been working on their own for some years and will exhibit a developed body of work which shows a certain level of mastery of their media, creativity, and originality.
