Senior Day at the Gallery

Robbin Gallery held a Senior Day at the Gallery on Tuesday, June 25th featuring a presentation by artist Annie Young from 10 a.m. to noon. The first such event of the year was well attended by 14 guests who were treated to a wonderful tour of Annie’s one-artist show.

Annie introduced herself, “I am an artist, I also live with blindness. I don’t consider myself disabled much less a disabled artist. My efforts all focus on bringing forward the emotions that visit me, I want viewers to feel what I am feeling.”

Annie led viewers throughout the gallery describing in detail the inspiration for each piece. Amazingly, as she explained how organized she has to be, she went from work to work in order by name, describing colors, techniques and unique details.

The two-hour talk allowed time for viewer interaction and questioning.

The crowd response was very positive. Robbin Gallery staff will investigate additional opportunities to hold Senior Days as they would depend on the type of show and availability of artist to make presentations. Watch our web site for future announcements.

Mother-Daughter Duo to Debut Community Sign Project at Whiz Bang Days

Patti Paulson stands with sample signs she created in anticipation of a community project sponsored by Cultivate Bottineau.

Sun Post News: Robbinsdale artist and activist Patti Paulson said a do-it-yourself sign idea has been in the back of her head for the better part of a year. She, along with her daughter, Nexus Trueself, has been busy gathering discarded signs from candidates of past elections, cutting the signs into new forms and splashing on a fresh cost of paint. Each sign will remain blank until a new owner comes to claim it.

Margarita George - Artist Bio

Margarita George was born is Burgas, Bulgaria in 1951. As a child, she dreamed of working with paints
but her parents pointed her towards more technical work, specifically in the field of mechanical
engineering. Following her education, she worked as an engineer in hydraulic equipment alongside
being an instructor at a Technical High School. When she arrived to the United States in 1997 she
pursued work as an Equipment Technician at General Electric until her retirement from the company in
Now in her Golden Years she has the opportunity to pursue her childhood dream. Being entirely self-
taught, she began to educate herself through literature and online tutorials. Initially, her style leaned
towards impressionism but eventually evolved into realism where she enjoys the difficult elements and
complex details in her work.
Whether it is an ocean landscape, portrait, or wildlife, the focus of her paintings revolves around what
inspires her and what she finds unique and beautiful. She is drawn to her art through an internal
manifestation of passion for the beautiful things in the world around us. Her work evokes an emotion
among those who value art as they are drawn by the message it promotes.
